bordered text!go-scarecrow.

in this tutorial, you'll learn how to add colored borders around text, like this:

first, you'll want to start off by making a new image. any size is good, just as long as it fits the text you're about to make, with an amount of 'wiggle room'. now, use the paintbucket tool to fill the entirety of the new image with the color you'd like as a border first. in this case, I used green:

go to the font tool on the sidebar and pick out how you want your font to look. it can be any color, family, or size, just make sure you create it as a 'floating' and that the 'stroke width' is set to 0.

once you have your font set, type up whatever you want to say, and try to center it in the middle of the image, so it's not touching on any of the borders. now pull up selections - modify - expand

you can now match your settings to mine, or by toggling the numbers in the bottom middle, you can make the border any witdth you want.

now that that's done, cut your selection by hitting ctrl+x, and paste it as a new image (ctrl+v). these are both important keyboard shortcuts.

add the second border by creating an image and filling it with the color you'd like your second border to be, like in the beginning. you'll want to take the text with just one border, cut it, and then paste as a new selection

into the image with your second color. from there, you can add the borders (selections - modify - expand) again to create two different colored borders. it should look something like this:
