installing smilies! go-scarecrow.
for this tutorial to be any help at all, already have cutenews uploaded and installed onto your site.first, download a set of smilies anywhere from the internet, but make sure they're in gif form. save them to a real quick file in your home directory (my documents) or on your desktop.
open cutenews and go to /cutenews/data/emoticons, then upload all the you've just downloaded into that folder. if it asks you if you'd like to overrite existing files, say yes.
next, go to the cutenews homepage on your site. (yoursite.com/cutenews). go to options - system configuration and check out the smilies bar:
this is a list of all the smilies you're using, and the names should correspond with all the files in /cutenews/data/emoticons
some smilie packs come with lists of all the names for you to paste in, but if yours doesn't, quickly make one. save your changes, and the next time you add news, they should show up.
